Jasprit Bumrah and KL Rahul Ruled Out
Jasprit Bumrah: Team India encounters a significant setback before the fourth Test of the ongoing five-match series against England. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been sidelined for the upcoming match scheduled in Ranchi from 23rd February. Additionally, star wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul will also be absent. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed this development.
BCCI stated that Jasprit Bumrah will be rested for the fourth Test to manage his workload effectively. Alongside, KL Rahul will miss out on this encounter. The board mentioned in its statement that a decision regarding Rahul’s return for the fifth Test will depend on his fitness report. Mukesh Kumar, the fast bowler, has been drafted into the team as Bumrah’s replacement. Bumrah had been rested during the third Test.
Bumrah Leads Wickets Tally in the Series
Jasprit Bumrah currently holds the record for the most wickets in the ongoing series. With 17 wickets at an impressive average of 13.64, he has been pivotal for the Indian side. Having bowled more than 80 overs across three matches, his standout performance includes claiming six wickets for 45 runs. Mohammed Siraj had been rested during the second Test in Visakhapatnam. The team management is yet to announce if any replacement will be included in the squad for Bumrah.

Following their victory in the Rajkot Test, Team India has surged ahead with a 2-1 lead in the five-match series against England. After a defeat in the first Test in Hyderabad, the Indian team staged a remarkable comeback, securing consecutive wins in Visakhapatnam and Rajkot. The upcoming Test in Ranchi, commencing on 23rd February, will not feature fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah.
