SA vs AUS: Jansen’s Five-Wicket Haul Helps South Africa Beat Australia by 122 Runs in ODI Series. With the destructive bowling of Marko Jansen (39/5), South Africa secured a victory against Australia by 122 runs in the first One Day International (ODI) match played at Wanderers on Sunday, clinching the five-match series 3-2. South Africa, batting first, posted a formidable total of 315 runs for 9 wickets in 50 overs, aided by excellent innings from Markram (93) and David Miller (63). In response, the Australian team crumbled at 193 runs, courtesy of Jansen’s lethal bowling.

This marks South Africa’s third consecutive win against Australia in this series. After losing the first two ODIs, the African team made a remarkable comeback, defeating Australia by over 100 runs in the last three ODI matches. By a stroke of luck, Australian captain Mitchell Marsh won the toss in all three matches.

This was the final ODI match for South African wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock, who had announced his retirement from ODIs before this series.

Markram and Miller’s fantastic partnerships took South Africa to a massive score. Australian captain Mitchell Marsh, after winning the toss, seemed to have made the right decision when his bowlers restricted South Africa to 103/4 by the 24th over. The early overs featured movement and bounce for both sides’ pacers.

However, after the initial setbacks, Aiden Markram played a knock of 93 runs, and David Miller contributed with a half-century of 63 runs, forming a 109-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Subsequently, Jansen and Andile Phehlukwayo accelerated the scoring in the final over, taking South Africa’s total beyond 300 runs.

Jansen scored 39 runs off 29 balls and took 5 wickets, while Keshav Maharaj claimed 4 wickets for 33 runs.

South African captain Temba Bavuma praised his team’s performance, saying, “We can take a lot of confidence from here. It was tough conditions for us, but we’ve shown that we can compete at the top level. We might go to India in the best possible position.”

On the other hand, after losing the series, Australian captain Mitchell Marsh said, “We’ve lost the last three games, but we’ve got a one-day series starting on Friday in India. Lots of guys are coming back, and there’s a big World Cup around the corner.
