Tanvir’s Initial Task:

As the newly appointed chairman of the junior selection committee, Tanvir’s first responsibility is to choose the Pakistan U19 team for the upcoming 2023 ACC U19 Asia Cup scheduled from December 8 to 17 in the UAE. Subsequently, the selected U19 team will participate in the ICC U19 World Cup in Sri Lanka from January 13 to February 4.

Tanvir’s Vision for Junior Selection:

Expressing his gratitude for the opportunity, Tanvir stated, “I am truly honored to serve as the head of the Junior Selection Committee. This is a great responsibility, and I look forward to the exciting challenge. I believe in the potential of our young talent, and our aim is to collaboratively pave the way for success from the grassroots level to the international stage.”

PCB’s Restructuring After ODI World Cup 2023:

In response to the disappointing performance in the ODI World Cup 2023, where Pakistan failed to qualify for the semi-finals, the PCB has undergone significant changes. Former chief selector Inzamam Ul Haq has resigned, making way for former fast bowler Wahab Riaz. Additionally, former Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has been appointed as the team director for the Pakistan men’s cricket team.

Leadership Changes Across Formats:

Following the resignation of Babar Azam from the captaincy after the ODI World Cup, Shan Masood has been appointed as the new Test captain. Fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has taken on the responsibility of T20I captaincy. The new captain for the Pakistan ODI team is yet to be revealed by the PCB.

Conclusion: The PCB’s strategic changes aim to rejuvenate the team and foster success at both the junior and senior levels, with Tanvir leading the charge for the talented young cricketers in the U19 category.
